As discussed in part 1, Paganicon is a combination of every type
of witchcraft and pagan belief that comes together and combining it into a 3-day
event. I had been to psychic fairs and chatted with people, but this took those
psychic fairs to another level.
Walking into this, I never thought there would be such a focus on Greek mythology, but there was also a focus on hoodoo (I didn’t attend any of the hoodoo seminars, but there were a lot of seminars pertaining to it). Focusing more on the Greek mythology, this was literally taking the ancient beliefs in these gods and goddesses and bringing them into the present day. There were seminars specific to the deities like Persephone, Hades, and even the horned god (i.e. Pan). There were rituals going on for them as well, Pan, Dionysus, and some people whom they have turned into goddesses. These people are trying to connect with these mythological gods and goddesses but also having discussions about different practices in witchcraft.
The truth of the matter:
So, we have this event that is mostly dealing with old mythological gods and goddesses and you have people who are actively worshiping them.
Exodus 20:3-5 states, “You shall have no other gods before me. You shall not make for yourself a carved image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. You shall not bow down to them or serve them, for I the Lord your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and the fourth generation of those who hate me.”
Psalm 115:4-8 states, “Their idols are silver and gold, the work of human hands. They have mouths, but do not speak; eyes, but do not see. They have ears, but do not hear; noses, but do not smell. They have hands, but do not feel; feet, but do not walk; and they do not make a sound in their throat. Those who make them become like them; so do all who trust in them.”
1 Corinthians 8:4 states, “Therefore, as to the eating of food offered to idols, we know that “an idol has no real existence,” and that “there is no God but one.”
These gods and goddesses, whom these participants at paganicon worship, have deaf ears and do not speak. So why worship something that does not bring life and only persues emptiness? Jesus said, “ I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” (John 14:6). He is the one who brings life, and everything else is just empty pursuit.
