Usually, I head to psychic fairs and start up conversations with people. This time I heard about a pagan fest that was occurring. I have attended this pagan fest before, and it is on a smaller scale, meaning that it is a tiny fest with not as many booths, but people attend. As I was walking around, I noticed this booth called Dragonfest. Dragonfest takes place in the mountains of Colorado, where people camp, and it seems
to be a pagan event. I wanted to find out more information about it since it seemed like it would have been interesting to attend. As I walked up, this gal was standing alone in the booth, talking to another gal, stating, “I am so tired of people asking me about Dragonfest, if someone asked me about making blue cheese, I would want to talk about that all day.” Yet, here I was, wanting to chat with her about Dragonfest. I tried starting a conversation with her about it, yet she was avoiding the topic altogether. She just kept calling people over to pick candy to see if they won a prize. I left with not much information about the fest.
The truth of the matter (for my fellow Christians):
This altercation, yet weird, made me think. If I was someone who was curious about Christianity and I walked up to a Christian who was in front of a church or even promoting a Christian booth or event. Wanting to know more information about it, yet I was turned away because the Christian didn’t want to discuss it, which probably would have made me not want to dive more into Christianity.
2 Timothy 4:2 states, “Preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching.” Meaning you never know when someone will come your way wanting to discuss what you believe. Always be ready to have a conversation with someone because you never know where that conversation will lead.
